Safety on GatherU

Your safety comes first

Meeting new people, whether one-on-one or at an event, should feel exciting, not risky. Here's what GatherU does, and what you can do, to keep it that way.

We review reports of abusive behaviour, fake profiles, and harassment, and can suspend or ban accounts that violate our guidelines. Hosts are responsible for the events they create, and attendees can leave a review after the event.

Before meeting someone in person: video chat first if you can, tell a friend where you're going and who you're meeting, meet in a public place for a first meetup, and arrange your own way to and from the meetup.

During an event: trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, it's okay to leave. Event hosts can remove attendees who make others uncomfortable.

Reporting a problem: every profile and event has a report option. Reports go to our safety team and are not visible to the person you're reporting. Reporting someone does not automatically notify them.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first — GatherU's safety team responds to reports, but we are not a substitute for emergency help.
